‘Dynamic, tangible products’
Niels Arendsen 32 is procurement project manager.
“Project-based working and making attractive, tangible products – that’s what appealed to me when I decided to work for Fokker Aerostructures. As procurement project manager for the Joint Strike Fighter I’m working at many different locations, both in the Netherlands and other countries. I’m responsible for setting up the supply chain and outsourcing of production. I also act as the link between the project team and the procurement organization, and I draw up project plans. As a team, one of our tasks is making the business case for the new JSF factory that’s going to be built.
There are different cultures at the various sites where I work. There’s a diversity between engineers, production staff and sales managers that makes my job very varied and exciting. The different tasks I have to do also contribute to that. As project manager I have plenty of opportunity to use my consultancy experience. I find it a very inspiring working environment, in which you’re faced with new challenges every day. And that’s all in an open and informal atmosphere.”
